Historical Photos of Our Parish
Did you know…?
Staffordshire Past Track has some fantastic historical information on Staffordshire and our parish. One such example is this photo, taken circa 1900 – 1910.
A view of the corner of Marston Road and High Street with the Wheaton Aston Institute and Reading Room on the left, built in 1887, and now the Village Hall. On the right is Mayland’s supply store and Post Office. In local directories of 1904 1912 the proprietor and sub-postmaster is listed as George Rhodes Mayland. The Mayland family ran the shop between 1901 and 1972 when the building was demolished.
Date:1900 – 1910
