π₯ Wheaton Aston Platinum Jubilee Allotments β Growing Together!
Weβre delighted to operate Broadholes Lane Platinum Jubilee Allotments β a fantastic community resource now up and running in Wheaton Aston!
π± About the Allotments
The Parish Council has transformed the site off Broadholes Lane into a modern and vibrant allotment space for local gardeners and growers. After years of planning, fundraising and groundwork, the allotments were officially opened in August 2024 and have already become a thriving community garden space.
The allotments were established following a strong level of interest from residents and a clear desire for more community growing space in the parish. Parish councillors, the Clerk and volunteers worked together over several years to secure funding, manage the project and deliver the site β and weβre very grateful to everyone involved for making it a reality.
Plot holders have created a welcoming community, sharing tips, tools and even communal facilities like a picnic table, plant-share area and large compost bin β all helping to foster neighbourly support and collaboration.
π° How the Project Was Funded
The allotments were made possible through a combination of:
External grant funding β including rural prosperity and community support funds, which helped make the allotments financially viable.
Parish Council project management and support throughout the planning and build stages.
Strategic use of Section 106 contributions from local developments where appropriate.
Thanks to careful planning and funding efforts over several years, the project reached delivery without placing undue strain on the parish precept.
