  • Resident Survey 2021 – Calling residents aged 16-44 years old and residents living in Locality 1 and Locality 2 

South Staffordshire’s Resident Survey 2021 launched on Wednesday 04 August and will run until Friday 03 September. Whilst the response rate has been incredible, reaching 661 respondents in the first week, we need more responses from people aged 16-44 years old and residents living in Locality 1 and Locality 2.

It would be very much appreciated if you could share the link to the survey below, to anyone who lives in South Staffordshire, particularly with regards to those we need more responses from as set out above.

  • Wombourne Runners Coming Soon 

Wombourne Leisure Centre are excited to be preparing for the launch of their new running club which they are aiming to start this September.  Follow the centre on Facebook or sign up to receive the latest news at www.sstaffs.gov.uk/alerts

  • Summer Holiday Success 

This summer is proving a huge success with leisure centre holiday activity camps reaching near capacity every day.  The Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) which enables children in receipt of free school meals with free access has been a real hit with residents. The Space Scheme is also welcoming young people aged 8-18 to discounted access.

Partnership updates

  • Community Ownership Fund

The government is providing £150 million over 4 years to support community groups in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to take ownership of assets and amenities at risk of being lost.

Voluntary and community groups can bid for match funding to acquire important assets and run them for the benefit of the local community.  The Fund will run until 2024/25 and there will be at least 8 bidding rounds in total.

  • Help spread the #DoNotDrugDrive message
    Staffordshire Police are supporting a national campaign to highlight the consequences of driving whilst under the influence of drugs.It’s an offence to drive with any of 17 controlled drugs above a specified level in your blood. This includes illegal and legally prescribed drugs. Police officers can test for cannabis and cocaine at the roadside or can be arrested if it is suspected that their driving is impaired by drugs. This is because other drugs including ecstasy, LSD, ketamine and heroin can be tested for at a police station.

The consequences of being caught drug driving are serious and can include: a minimum 12 month driving ban, a criminal record, a hefty fine, up to six months in prison and an endorsement on your licence for 11 years.

If you know someone is drink or drug driving please report it, providing as much information and detail as possible so they can be investigated. You can report them online or by calling 101. Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. If there is an immediate risk to the public always call 999.

COVID-19 Update

 ·         Vaccination of children and young people aged 12-17 years
Following the recent announcement from the JCVI, here is an updated statement on COVID-19 vaccination of children and young people aged 12 to 17 years.

  • Vaccination of people working or deployed in care homes

The DHSC has published operational guidance for the vaccination of people working or deployed in care homes which states that from 11 November 2021, anyone working or volunteering in a care home will need to be fully vaccinated against coronavirus (COVID-19), unless exempt.

Key dates to bear in mind are 22 July (this is when the grace period started), 16 September (last date for care home workers to get their first dose so they are fully vaccinated by the time the regulations come into force) and 11 November (regulations come into force).
